Powered by lithium-ion technology, the DS18DL weighs just 4.6 pounds. It has a class-leading 570 in./lbs. of turning torque, so it will power through the toughest jobs with ease. A unique two-step speed switch allows you to select from four different speed settings for your fastening and drilling applications.
Always user-friendly, the DS18DL has a comfortable grip that minimizes fatigue on all-day jobs. It also has easy carbon-brush access to help extend the life of the tool. For further ease of use, this driver drill features a convenient five-position belt hook with an integrated LED light.
WH18DL Impact Driver with Cool Flow System
Producing 1,330 in./lbs. of torque and weighing just 3.5 pounds, the WH18DL Impact Driver is ideal for tackling projects like sinking deck screws, hanging doors, and installing cabinets and windows. The industrial-grade, two-piece motor uses heavy-gauge copper coils to increase both power and durability. Hitachi's unique Cool Flow system further enhances durability by supplying a steady stream of air to the motor for harder and longer impacts without motor burnout.
The WH18DL Impact Driver is powered by lithium-ion technology and features the same easily accessible carbon brush and five-position belt hook as the DS18DL Driver Drill.
HXP Lithium-Ion Batteries Last Longer and Weigh Less
The KC18DDL Combo Kit includes two 3.0-Ah HXP lithium-ion batteries. These batteries weigh half of what traditional NiCd or NiMH batteries weigh--in fact, tools featuring HXP batteries are on average one pound lighter than tools using traditional batteries.
Additionally, HXP batteries last three times longer than their competition. Where NiCd and NiMH batteries could be used for up to 500 charge cycles, HXP Lithium-Ion batteries can be used for up to 1,500 charge cycles!
HXP Lithium-Ion batteries operate within optimal voltage limits, protecting both the tool and batteries from damage. Protection circuitry built into the batteries and charger monitors the charge and discharge for each battery cell, resulting in peak operating performance.
If a surge in power is detected during use, Hitachi's Over-Current Protection technology will temporarily shut of the power to protect the batteries and tool from being damaged. This feature allows the power to return to optimal voltage, thereby extending battery and tool life beyond any competitive lithium-ion products.
HXP batteries come with a two-year HXP Lithium-Ion Battery Warranty, which protects against possible defects in materials and workmanship.

Customer Review: Hitachi 18V 3Ah Li-Ion Impact & Drill-Driver 2-Piece Set-SOLID!

After running the gamut of cordless tool usages for 30 years, I've Finally Arrived! Let's see, from drills of 3.6, 7.2, 12, 14.4, 15.6, 18 and 19.2 Volts, only the C19.2 had meet most of my drilling-driving needs. However, there always were power issues dealing with run times and battery storage of my NiMH batteries. I've been holding out and watching the new battery technologies develop, especially the Lithium-Ion systems. Consistent Drilling Torques, Long Lasting Shelf Life Power, Quick Charging, High Current Output, Longer Life Cycles and Lower Weight really makes the Li-Ions desirable, for Pros or the Homeowner. I decided to take the plunge and outfit my shop cordless tool selections with this new battery technology.
I researched all of the newest cordless Li-Ion products on the market and found the HITACHI 18V 3.0 Ah HXP tool systems to be unbeatable in most categories. They cost less then most of the other professional brands of great cordless tools and I got this 2-piece combo set here on Amazon as a Great Value compared to individual purchases.
I've not been disappointed! You can look up specs and read other reviews, but I can safely say that this Cordless Hitachi set is Absolutely SOLID in use! The 1\2" Drill-Driver has leading class torque (570in\lbs) and is the top rated 18V Li-Ion in many on-line reviews, seeming to equal my corded drills in raw power. The Driver-Impact has a huge amount of torque (1330in.\lbs.) and feels and works well in my hands. It sinks larger and greater length screws and lag bolts than even my corded drills (all professional), but with a Lot More in the way of control, less fatigue, greater power and convenience! Because of the impact torque, stripped out phillips heads are a thing of the past.
The 3.0Ah Li-Ion batteries give both power tools plenty of run time, allowing me to tackle all of my DIY projects. Plus, Hitachi now offers a LIFETIME Cordless Li-Ion HXP Tool Warranty...Can't beat that!!
Overall, these are the most powerful, well built, quiet and ergonomic cordless tools I have ever come across! The Hitachi 18V 3Ah HXP tool system is Very Close to the Power and Torque of my pro corded tools, but with a Lot More in the way of Convenience (No Cords)! All feel great and work as well in my hands as any of the top corded power tools I own. I'll keep my pro drills, but only as -backups- to this Hitachi cordless system!!!
