Hitachi designed the C10FCH2 for versatile, easy use. The thumb-actuated positive miter stops allow for simple miter adjustments between zero and 52 degrees. This design allows you to easily change the angle of the cutting blade for creating miters in crown molding and other trim pieces. And with a bevel range of 45 degrees to the left, the Hitachi C10FCH2 provides gorgeous bevels on the first try.The 10-1/2-inch TCT saw blade (included) makes easy work of delicate trim and other woodwork, and the large extended flip fence raises to four inches to allow for accurate cutting of large workpieces up to 2-5/16 inches high and 5-21/32 inches deep.

Customer Review: Great & Very Accurate Saw

I purchased my Hitachi C10FCH2 10" Compound Miter Saw in 2009. I am very satisfied with it. I wanted, and got: a 10" saw that could "do it all." I use mine for many fabrication tasks. I've used the stock blade to cut wood for framing like work. I've used my 10" 84 tooth Diablo blade for ultra fine precision cuts and for "chopping" plastics. And I've used 10" abrasive disks to cut steel bar & plate. This saw handles each task just great.
A note about the laser, I tossed it, end of story. A laser is only good for rough cuts, so they aren't good for much.
Moldings are my most demanding work, and therefore: the most demanding requirement for this purchase was that the saw had to be capable of precise calibration. Saws don't come calibrated, because shipping knocks them out of adjustment. So a person must adjust their saw before any rigorous work. I don't like "hack jobs." I like to do clean and precise work. To achieve that goal, a saw must be fully adjustable in both miter and bevel, but also the scales and/or the pointers must be adjustable. Most saws have poor to non-existent facility for full calibration. This saw is fully adjustable, you can make it square in both axies, and make its scales "read true."

I have used this book for years. I used it the first time that I attempted to do Crown Moldings, they came out near perfect! The joints were very tight, most didn't require anything other than touch up paint. The book is awesome! Wayne Drake, the author, also offers a spread sheet for Microsoft Excel, it helps you calculate values for "miter" and "bevel." Wayne uses the "molding flat" method. No trying to angle or prop-up the crown molding against the back plate. His method is far superior, easier, quicker, and makes TIGHT JOINTS! Gaps in your joints look terrible, and patching putty only fills the gap, it doesn't make the gap go away or look right.
Another problem with many other Compound Miter Saws, is that the "Miter Lock," that's the long knob that protrudes from the front of the saw base, will cause "drift" in the miter setting during tightening. This saw doesn't have that fault. (Some of the Sears Craftsman saws are as good as this Hitachi, except that they suffer from Miter Drift. The Craftsman saws require the addition of a "home fabricated" "Thrust Plate" between the point of the knob's screw and the radius of the Miter Scale.) The Hitachi doesn't suffer all that hassle!
This has been a great saw for me. I also have an Hitachi 18V LiIon drill-driver, and an Hitachi 80mm Power Plane. I'm happy with all of them.
